Panelists:

C.S. Friedman has written eight science fiction and fantasy novels since her first book, In Conquest Born, was released in 1986. Her books have been published in more than a half dozen countries, including the United Kingdom, Germany and Russia. She lives in Northern Virginia where she also teaches creative writing.

Doug Jones has seen several dozen of his plays produced throughout the country. His publishing credits include poetry, short stories and nonfiction. Doug has earned degrees from the University of Chicago and the University of Virginia, and has taught writing at the University of Virginia, TheatreVirginia and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.

Film critic Dan Neman has been working in Richmond since 1986, first at The Richmond News Leader and, since the merger in 1992, at the Richmond Times-Dispatch. He covers television, museums, comedy, cookbook reviews and writes occasional working-lunch restaurant reviews. Before coming to Richmond, he was the entertainment writer at the Bryan/College Station Eagle (Texas) for three years. He is a graduate of the University of Chicago, and has served as a board member of James River Writers.

Fantasy writer Bill Blume's short stories have been published by Spinetingler Magazine and Bill has written and illustrated the online comic strip, "The Wildcat's Lair." A member of "Ten Page Club," he has served on James River Writers' Board of Directors since 2006 and chaired JRW's 2007 Conference Planning Team. Bill earned a BA in Journalism from the University of South Carolina and worked as a news producer for WTVR-TV in Richmond until 2001.
